The Victorian B&B
The GreenRetreat Victorian Bed & Breakfast is coming in 2010!
Our B&B will be an impressive 5 bedroom Victorian with spectacular views of our farm and horse stable. Each room will feature a queen size bed with luxury linens, private bath, and a distinct decorative theme. The main floor will feature an old-fashioned parlor, library, and dining room, all available for private party rental. There will also be a performance/teaching kitchen, glassed in eating areas, and a handicapped accessible suite with private entrance and direct dining area access. The ground level event center will feature an oak “pub” area, a large open area for class work & entertaining, and 4 large French Doors opening onto the beautiful paver patio for indoor/outdoor lakeside activities. Of course, green technologies, environmentally sensitive amenities, and earth-friendly products will be utilized. To further support our friends and neighbors, local juried art will be displayed on consignment throughout.
Main Floor Features!
The main floor of the B&B will be fully surrounded by a beautiful porch allowing for access to the main entrance and entrances to the kitchen, dining room, and handicapped accessible suite. Guests will love the ability to wander around the whole house as the lake, forest and stable views will be nothing short of spectacular!
The main entrance, located on the southwest corner directly off the parking area, will lead guest into the main parlor and check-in area. The parlor will have comfortable seating allowing guests to lounge and relax in front of our massive oak bookcases and gas fireplace. Also accessible from the front door, the old-fashioned library will display our collection of Southern Illinois books, cookbooks, and children’s books. The turret in the library will provide a beautiful seating area to enjoy the books, wait for friends, or host a book club meeting.
What Victorian home could be complete without a formal dining room displaying grandma and great-grandma’s china patterns? Our dining room will be the perfect spot for catered wedding rehearsal dinners, brides’ brunches, and formal meetings. It will also be available for catered fund-raisers, formal dinners featuring favorite chefs, and dinners honoring dignitaries of all kinds.
The formal dining room will also be steps from our performance/teaching kitchen! Our kitchen will be home to Culinary Tourism Weekend Events hosted by the Carbondale Convention & Tourism Board. Caterers will feel at home and guests who host formal culinary events will not be disappointed with our kitchen and dining room set up. Of course, our regular breakfast service will be available in the same kitchen and attached eating areas with east facing lake views.

Lake View Event Center
Just down the main stairs from the front entrance, is our Lake View Event Room. This large open room will be a perfect event center for guest lists of 50 to 300 people. This room will feature 4 Large French Doors which will open onto the beautiful paver patio and allow for excellent indoor/outdoor entertaining. Wellness weekends will incorporate this space for classroom work and fitness classes. Our beautiful oak “pub-style” bar with brass features will be perfect for catered events with bar service. Addition of the Flat Screen Satellite TV will allow for hosting less formal parties when the plan is bringing friends out to watch movies or the big game!
In any case, the best lake view in the area will enhance all parties, classes, and events held any time of year!
